Coffee-Rubbed Steak


  • 2 tablespoons finely ground Mi Casa Coffee
  • 5 teaspoons of dried maple or brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon paprika
  • 1½ teaspoons dried oregano
  • 1½ teaspoons freshly ground black pepper
  • 1½ teaspoons ground coriander
  • 1 teaspoon ground ginger
  • 1 tablespoon kosher salt
  • 2x One-Inch-Thick cuts of your favourite steak
  • A splash of Olive Oil


  • Mix all of your dry rub ingredients in a small bowl
  • Begin to season your steaks with salt, then heavily coat each steak with your spice rub. Chill uncovered for 3–6 hours.
  • When ready to cook, let steaks sit 1 hour to come to room temperature.
  • Preheat oven to 400°. Heat oil in a large skillet over medium-high. Cook steaks 2 minutes or so on each side to create a nice crust. Transfer skillet to oven; cook steaks for about 5 minutes to achieve a medium-rare finish. Transfer steaks to a cutting board; let rest 10 minutes before serving.
